The protests in Tibet and Nepal were planned ahead of the 2008 Olympics in Bejiing to call attention to China’s human rights violations in Tibet and their voices were heard. But Tibet is not the only concern as China is guilty of many violations against their citizens that are fully listed on the 2007 U.S. Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor report released on March 11, 2008. It appears the protests will now follow the movement of the Olympic torch in the major cities as it makes it’s way to Bejiing.
Hillary has asked President Bush to boycott the opening ceremony which we know he will not do as any boycotting will not help or make China change their ways. Since China has always been a human rights violator why were they given the opportunity to host the Olympics? All countries use China to produce goods cheaply and choose to ignore their government. The almighty dollar rules!
